Next on the suggestive music channel... Coaming.
Joining the caboose of this long meme train:

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random. The article title is the name of your band.
Go to http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3. The final words of the last quote on your page are the title of your album.
Go to http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/ The FOURTH image on the page is your album cover. You can choose to go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/flickrsocial/pool/ if you prefer a more dynamic, less philosophical cover.
Design your cover. Layout and presentation are up to you.
Post your cover, along with these instructions. In the comments your friends will tell you what kind of music you play and the name of the album's single.

Stirrin' the pot on a friday...
A meme I pinched from... me.

1. Look over my list of interests on my profile. Choose one, and ask me what's up with me listing it as an interest.

2. Look over my list of interests again, and if there's something you expected to see there that is not, ask me what's up with that. (Limit 1 per customer.)

3. I comment back with my entertaining and informative reply.

4. You post this meme in your LiveJournal, and I get to ask these questions of you.

5. Profit!

It's Bacon!
As brought to my lutefisk-ravaged attention by [info]robotech_master and [info]flemco:

William Shakespeare

Come, you spirits
That tend on mortal thoughts! Unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe top full
Of direst gwox.

Which work of Shakespeare was the original quote from?

Get your own quotes:

I haven't checked yet, but given popular conspiracy theories concerning the true authorship of Shakespeare's works, it's entirely possible the word that 'gwox' was substituted for is 'bacon.'

Mmmmm. Bacon.

Of course, my list of significant SFF would have a lot more of Terry Pratchett's books...

Is 'Bud Dry' even still around?
Meme pinched from [info]mrbankies and [info]freakfest and [info]flemco:

Bush has now publicly noted that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

Which makes me wonder one thing that I'd love to hear the president explain.

MR. PRESIDENT, WHY DID WE GO TO IRAQ?

If you would like to have that answer as well, post these words in your blog. We're not gonna get an answer from the head dickcheese himself, but it would be interesting to see how many of you would like to hear that answer. Note: You will probably be bombarded by posts from neo-con right-wing asshats.

So my inner child likes being spanked, then?
Meme pinched from [info]drderanged:

Your Inner Child Is Naughty

Like a child, you tend to discount social rules.
It's just too much fun to break the rules!
You love trouble - and it seems that trouble loves you.
And no matter what, you refuse to grow up!

This result is probably a surprise to some. To others... not. Heh.

Meanwhile, over on Novitious, I finally got around to a new post: a review of the movie adaptation of A Scanner Darkly. I'm going to try to post at least one something-or-other on Novitious a week, depending on how determined work is at any given time to be making my head want to do wa-wa explodey things.

The TMI desk is open!
I haven't been posting, or even commenting, in a while, which makes me a naughty Gary. Last week was a financially stressful week in general, and one day in specific (thanks to an automotive brake repair job that revealed how bad off my car's rotors and brake pads and brake shoes and brake spitoons were looking). Today things are looking up somewhat. Or maybe I'm just high. It's hard to tell sometimes.

But now, it's meme time! This pinched from [info]mrbankies:

If you ask...

1. I'll respond with something I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you, if I have such a thought.
8. If I do this for you, please post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

Go to Wikipedia, enter in your birthdate (sans year), post three events, two births and one death.

August 16th

1960 - Joseph Kittinger parachutes from a balloon over New Mexico at 102,800 feet (31,330 m), setting three records that still stand today: high-altitude jump, free-fall, and fastest speed by a human without an aircraft.

1884 - Hugo Gernsback, Luxembourg-born editor and publisher (d. 1967)
1888 - T. E. Lawrence, English writer and soldier (d. 1935)

But Will Anyone Notice the Difference?
Honest. Someday soon I will post something that is not a meme. Rejoice in knowing that day shall come!

Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely industrious devotee this year.

In September, I prepared an ocean voyage to R'lyeh (200 points). In June, I legally changed my name to Randolph Carter (-40 points). In February, I stopped [info]shaenon from defiling Lovecraft's grave (-20 points). When the stars were right, I bombed a cultist gathering (-100 points). In January, I rescued [info]drderanged from being sacrificed (-200 points). Last week, I called down the wrath of Yog-Sothoth upon [info]ashears (65 points).

In short, I have been very bad (-95 points) and deserve to be left to whimper as my mind shatters before the vision of your greatness.

Your humble and obedient servant,

Happiness is a Warm Bun
Since I was done tagged by [info]mrbankies a few days ago:

Top 10 things that make you happy right now, and tag five people to do the same. (In no particular order.)

01. My wife, cats, dog, friends, and family.

02. Lost. I haven't raved about it here, because the degree of my craven fanboy capering would make you cringe, but damn, this show is good. (Besides, have you seen a 6'4" man caper? It would haunt your darkest dreams.)

03. The fact that the Lions will be done for the season soon, leaving the Detroit sports scene for the Pistons and the Red Wings.

04. Planet Man!

05. That I finished the first draft of my latest attempt at a novel earlier this year, and will be redrafting and shooting it out to a publisher (and the likely beginning of the ever-beloved Parade of Rejection) by Memorial Day, 2006. (Not quite so tight a schedule as the one [info]demiurgent has set for himself, I know, but these days his Logos Fu is stronger than mine.)

06. That, speaking of novels, I recently discovered another finished first draft of a novel I wrote in, I think, 1997. I mean, sure, one look-through was enough to convince me that I was right to drive a stake through it and bury it at the crossroads at midnight, but on the other hand, how cool is it to find a novel you wrote and then almost forgot for close to a decade? Particularly one that makes you wonder if aliens were slipping hard drugs into your coffee when you weren't looking?

07. Rambling on about my writing. Seriously - ask me what's going on in my life lately. Chances are I'll spend a paragraph or two on family, friends, pets, recent events, and my recent discovery of a grand unified theory of physics, and then go on for about five or six pages about what I'm writing, what I'm thinking about writing, why I haven't been writing, and how much I'd write if only the stars and planets were to align just so in the coming year. I'm almost certain this is why nobody asks how I'm doing anymore.

08. That my intense sexual magnetism has somehow not yet erased my computer's hard drive.

09. Webcomics -- Narbonic, Gossamer Commons, and Alien Loves Predator most of all.

10. LJ Memes. But you knew that.

And so, zephyr-like, I tag: [info]demiurgent, [info]ashears, [info]frobozz, [info]shaenon, and [info]evilbeej!
